Nike and Paul George started 2020, introducing the fourth model of the Nike PG Series. Compared to the Nike PG 3, the new NBA star's basketball shoes have received tremendous upgrades.
Let's start with the look and style of the shoes. The Nike PG 4 introduces an element not yet seen in the series - a semi-transparent lace-up and zippered hood inspired by the legendary Nike Air Flight '98 sneakers. The laces can be hidden or worn externally due to special holes near the collar. Designer Tony Hardman says that the design of the upper will allow for the use of different colors, and storytelling that are extremely important in today's basketball shoe culture. Paul George, in his shoes, has already told about the flight dream, NASA and his hometown Palmdale.
The sole of the shoe has also been updated – previously, Paul George basketball shoes had a Nike Air cushion in the front, while the Nike PG 4 features an ultra-lightweight full-length Air Strobel element that connects directly into the upper part of the shoe. According to the designers, this change will allow George to feel the court, sprint, feel steady while working on defense and release the speed on offense.
